"I'm so glad when Daddy comes home"

The kids love it when Doug gets home from work. The minute he tries to lay down on the floor for a little relaxation, they take it as an open invitation and watch out, here they come. Of course, in this picture they're posing. I couldn't get a non blurry picture of them wrestling and teasing dad.

Catching Up

Two weeks ago was Bryson's Blue and Gold Banquet for Scouts. He was required to make and decorate a cake with his dad's help. He decided he wanted a green Lego. (the toothpicks are to keep the seran wrap from messing with the frosting. It didn't work, I still had to do touchups when we got there.)

Last Tuesday we went to the zoo for a field trip. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, the zoo only charges $2 for admission. I figured in February the zoo wouldn't be very crowded, which it wasn't but it was definitely cold.

This Lorikeet had the hots for Shannon. He kept coming back to her and we didn't even have the nectar to feed them with.

I love the colors of this Lorikeet.

Taking a break before going in to see the crocodiles.

Just outside the elephant habitat, right before we headed home. It was starting to sprinkle and it was way past nap time for the two younger ones. (the kid in the middle is not ours, he just wouldn't get out of the picture no matter how much coaxing his father did)

Now on to Valentine's day. Normally Doug and I don't do anything for each other but my neighbor talked me into doing a nice dinner for him. So I did and here's how it looked.

We had RedLobster for dinner (take-out) and I rented a video for the kids to watch upstairs while we ate. It turned out to be a nice evening and I had fun decorating and being secretive.

My Britches Are Burning

The other day Shannon comes to me and says, "Mom, your bedroom smells funny." Olivia had just been in there because I told her to go potty so I'm thinking maybe she did a stinky. I walked into my room and immediately smelled something that clearly was burning. I quickly looked around and when I looked down, there was the clothes iron, plugged in and on, laying on my favorite pajama bottoms. Instead of going to the bathroom like I had asked her to, Olivia had pugged in the iron and decided to iron my jammies instead. I wasn't a very happy person.
